Very low hiring and stiff competition makes it extremely difficult to get government jobs. As per a newspaper report, of the 22.05 crore applications received from 2014-15 to 2021-22, only 7.22 lakh were selected for central government departments. A total of 63,014 candidates were selected by UPSC, SSC and the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection, popularly known as the IBPS during 2021-22 (as per GOI).
