A Teller (also known as Cashier) is an entry-level banking professional responsible for handling customer cash transactions in a bank branch. Teller job includes managing deposits, withdrawals, cheque processing, account updates, and basic customer service. Tellers are often the first point of contact for walk-in customers and play a key role in ensuring smooth day-to-day branch operations.
As cash transactions reduce and digital banking grows, the demand for new teller positions in banks is gradually declining. At the same time, tellers are increasingly expected to take up cross-selling of banking products alongside their regular cash-handling duties.
