A Personal Banker can grow to higher roles with good performance. A typical role upgrade may happen in about 1-3 years for a good performer.
The general career path is usually as follows:
- Personal Banker → Relationship Manager → Deputy Branch Manager → Branch Manager → Cluster Head.
Some also shift into specialised roles in wealth management, credit, or corporate banking after the Relationship Manager role.
Some Relationship Managers may move directly as Branch Managers too. The Deputy Branch Manager role may be called with different names – like PB Authoriser in HDFC Bank as an example.
With continuous learning, career progression is fast in private banks.
