The average salary of a Teller in Indian private banks ranges between ₹2 – ₹3 LPA for freshers. With experience, incentives and promotions, this can go up to ₹4–6 LPA after 4–5 years.
Salary growth for tellers is generally slower than in sales-driven roles. This is why many tellers eventually transition into sales profiles, where earnings and career progression are faster.
In PSU banks, salary may be slightly higher as per government pay scales. Although teller openings are fewer compared to many other banking roles, private sector banks tend to offer more opportunities than PSU banks. But teller salaries are slightly higher in PSU banks.
